Fruit Exports & Imports

Connecting Uganda's fruit farmers to regional and international markets - and importing the processing machinery needed to add value and meet export quality standards.

Uganda's Fruit Opportunity

Uganda Grows It - The World Wants It

Uganda produces world-class tropical fruits - mangoes, pineapples, avocados, passion fruits, bananas, and jackfruit - but most farmers sell locally at low prices because they lack market connections, packaging, and logistics support. The export opportunity is enormous and growing.

Export Support

We Help You Export Uganda's Fruit

Uganda's key export fruits include mangoes, pineapples, avocados, passion fruits, bananas, watermelons, and papayas. The EU, Middle East, and East African regional markets offer prices 3-10x higher than domestic markets - but accessing them requires documentation, compliance, and cold chain logistics that many farmers cannot manage alone.

What We Assist With

Export Documentation
Phytosanitary certificates, MAAIF export registration, certificates of origin, packing lists, and commercial invoices - all required documents coordinated on your behalf.
Market Access & Buyers
Connecting Uganda farmers and aggregators with buyers in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda), the Middle East (Dubai, UAE), and the European Union.
SPS Compliance Guidance
Helping producers understand and meet the EU's Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) requirements, HortiFresh membership, and MAAIF packhouse audit requirements.
Logistics & Freight
Coordinating refrigerated truck transport to Entebbe or Mombasa, air freight for high-value produce, and sea freight for bulk shipments.
Packaging & Grading
Guidance on export-standard packaging, fruit grading, and labelling requirements for retail markets in Europe and the Gulf states.
Aggregation Support
Linking smallholder farmers with commercial aggregators and export-registered packhouses for farmers who cannot export independently.

Machinery Imports

Processing Machinery to Add Value

Raw fresh fruit exports earn the least. Processors who juice, dry, pulp, or package their produce earn dramatically more - and can access markets that fresh fruit cannot reach. Reintec Engineering imports the processing equipment that Uganda's fruit sector needs to move up the value chain.

Machinery We Import

Fruit Juice Lines
Complete juice processing lines - fruit washers, pulpers, juice extractors, pasteurisers, homogenisers, filling and capping machines, and labelling equipment for mango, passion fruit, pineapple, and citrus juice.
Fruit Dryers
Solar, electric, and biomass-powered cabinet dryers and tunnel dryers for dried mango, banana chips, pineapple, papaya, and jackfruit - meeting EU food safety standards.
Cold Room Equipment
Refrigerated cold rooms for fresh fruit storage and pre-cooling before export - essential for meeting EU shelf-life requirements for avocados, mangoes, and passion fruits.
Packing & Grading Machines
Fruit grading machines (by size, colour, weight), conveyor belts, packaging machines, shrink-wrap equipment, and carton sealers for export-standard packaging.
Oil Expellers
Hydraulic and screw-press expellers for avocado oil, passion fruit seed oil, and essential oil extraction - high-value niche export products with growing EU demand.
Pulp & Puree Processing
Industrial pulpers, sterilisers, aseptic filling machines, and bulk drum filling for mango, tomato, and mixed tropical fruit puree destined for food industry buyers.

Where Uganda's Fruit Can Go

European Union

The EU is Uganda's second-largest export destination - 14.7% of total exports. Avocados, pineapples, and passion fruits are high-priority products, contingent on SPS compliance, cold chain, and EU-approved packhouses.

Key buyers: Netherlands, Germany, France, UK (post-Brexit)
High value | Strict SPS requirements

Middle East & Gulf

Dubai, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar import large volumes of tropical fruit from East Africa. Less stringent on SPS than EU - faster market entry for new exporters. Strong demand for fresh mangoes, avocados, and passion fruits.

Key markets: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait
Faster entry | Growing volumes

East African Region

Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, DRC, and Tanzania offer the most accessible export markets - shorter distances, common EAC trade frameworks, and familiar logistics routes via Mombasa or overland.
